Everything you need to host a tracking website
New to web hosting? This guide explains domains, shared hosting, cPanel, PHP, databases, and SSL in plain language—so your TrackScript purchase runs smoothly from day one.
Domain name
Your domain is the web address visitors type to reach your tracking site (for example, mytrackingsite.com). Register it through any registrar, then point the nameservers to your hosting provider. Most scripts work on any standard domain—no special configuration required beyond DNS.
Web hosting
Shared hosting is the easiest starting point for beginners. You get server space, email accounts, and a control panel to upload your script files. Look for plans that include cPanel, at least 1 GB storage, and support for PHP and MySQL.
cPanel access
cPanel is the dashboard where you upload files, create databases, and manage email. After purchasing hosting, your provider sends login details. Use File Manager or FTP to upload the script, and MySQL Databases to create the database your script connects to.
PHP & database
TrackScript products typically require PHP 8.1 or newer and a MySQL or MariaDB database. Each product page lists exact requirements. In cPanel, select the recommended PHP version and create a database user with full privileges on your database.
SSL certificate
SSL encrypts traffic between your visitors and your site, showing the padlock icon in the browser. Most hosts include free SSL via Let's Encrypt—enable it in cPanel under SSL/TLS Status. Always use HTTPS for tracking pages and admin areas to protect user data and build trust.
